The ability to use FaceTime to initiate a video call that also includes Android and Windows devices isn't the only new feature in Apple's latest software update. Staying on the FaceTime theme, in the app it is possible to see the participants in the grid on the screen, with the frame highlighted of the person who is speaking, and then take advantage of the Portrait mode that blurs the background. The audio has also been worked on trying to make voices and speech as clear as possible through noise cancellation. Also during FaceTime calls it is also possible to share through the SharePlay function what is displayed on the screen, from photos and documents through TV series, films and even songs with audio synchronous playback.
In short, the new iOS update seems to have been heavily influenced by the coronavirus pandemic, at least for what concerns communication and sharing. In addition to implementing FaceTime to transform it into a virtual meeting room that everyone can access, there is in fact another feature that has made especially the students very happy. The "Active Text" function of the camera is an optical recognition system that allows you to extrapolate text - even handwritten text - from a photo: just take a photo and the system processes the characters allowing you to copy them onto a sheet of text.
The iOS 15 update was released on September 20, and is compatible with iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max, iPhone Xs and Xs Max, iPhone Xr and iPhone X, iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, iPhone Se model 2016 and 2020 and 7th generation iPod Touch. If you haven't downloaded it yet, just remember to back up your data and take some time to install, making sure you connect the device to a power source and a wi-fi. To check availability, simply go to Settings, select General and then Software Update, where iOS 15 should appear, if available.
