Apple's new iPhone 12 and 12 Pro are two fantastic devices. From 5G connectivity to the return of Apple's Magsafe technology for charging and accessories, there is a lot to appreciate on both new phones.Of course, the latest Apple devices are equipped with iOS 14 installed by default, which has its set of new and imaginative features.Whether you believe it or not, however, Apple's default settings are not always the best to help you get the most out of your iPhone. We will guide you through some steps that will make your new iPhone 12 even better.
For example, if you live somewhere with 5G coverage of zero or irregular, there is no reason to keep it active. The "non -disturbing" option is disabled by default, which means that your iPhone could continue to issue the acoustic signals of notifications all night.A quick dip in the settings can fix things. You can automatically silence the phone all night, take advantage of the dark mode to save the battery life and much more, changing the phone settings.
1.You don't have or don't you like 5G coverage?Turn it off
The four iPhone 12 models are the first of the company to be supplied with 5G support, a faster and faster cellular connection. However, since operators are still at work to implement their 5G networks, some iPhone 12 holders will have to wait a little, before enjoying the benefits of 5G.
Apple proposes a Smart Data function for iPhone 12 which will automatically pass between the 4G LTE and 5G networks, without having to know or do anything, simply based on how and where you are using your iPhone 12.However, you may notice that the battery is downloaded faster than before. If you don't want to sacrifice the battery life for higher 5G speed, you can turn it off.You can reactivate the 5G when you want it or when the service in your area will be better.
To deactivate the 5G on your iPhone 12, forcing it to always use 4G LTE even if you have a 5G cover, open the settings app then go on mobile - Cell data options - item and data, then select LTE.
Alternatively, if you want your iPhone 12, you only use a 5G connection when available, you can select 5G On.
2.Adjust the amount of data used on a 5G connection
If you are satisfied with the 5G performance, here is an approach relating to the network you should check.Go to Settings - Mobile - Cell Data Options - Data Mode. Here you will find three different options: allow multiple data on 5G, standard and low data mode.
Although there are short descriptions under the three different settings, they do not paint a complete image for the first option.According to an Apple support document, allowing more data on 5G will give you high quality videos and better facetime calls, but it also means that your phone can download software updates, reproduce in streaming Apple TV and high -definition Apple Music and developers ofthird parties to improve their respective apps.
The default setting on this page will depend on your operator and your data plan, so it is always a good idea to check and make sure everything is set according to your preferences.
3.iOS 14 changed the incoming call notice - change it again
Before iOS 14, every time an iPhone was unlocked and used, for example to control e -mail, and someone called, the incoming call screen took control of the entire display. It was annoying, of course, but it was also a clear sign that the phone was ringing.
Starting from iOS 14, however, Apple has changed the request for calls to be resembled more to a typical notice. That is, a small notification that is displayed at the top of the screen when the phone is in use. There is a risk of losing the call or canceling the notice as an annoying notification that has not immediately requested your attention.
To receive the notice of call coming to an entire screen again, go to Settings - Telephone - Calls coming and touched full screen.
4.Show complete notifications on the lock screen
If the iPhone 12 is your first experience with Apple's Face ID technology, you will notice that you cannot see the content of new notices and notifications on the lock screen. For example, instead of seeing who sent you a text message and what he says, you will only see a warning of generic messages.
By default, all iPhone with Apple's Face ID technology hide the content of a notice until you take the phone in your hand and unlock it by looking at it.It is a rather interesting privacy function, some can be annoying.
You can change the display mode of notifications on the lock screen by going to Settings - Notifications - Preview show and always select. On the contrary, you can never select if you want to keep the contents of the notifications always hidden in the lock screen.
5.Avoid the disorder of the apps in the initial screen
With the release of iOS 14, iPhone users will have more options and control over the appearance of their initial screen. The new app library, for example, acts as a drawer of the apps, allowing to remove the apps from the main screen without eliminating them.It is even possible to completely customize the appearance of the phone with different apps of apps and widgets: it will be very similar to Android and there is nothing wrong with this.
If you like the minimal appearance, we recommend that you make sure that the newly installed apps are not automatically positioned on the initial screen every time you download them.Or, the downside, if you don't want the new apps to go directly to the app library, go to Settings - Home screen and select Add to Home or ONLY APP Library.

When the "non -disturbing" function is activated, all notices on the iPhone are silenced, using set planning or on request. The notifications will still be there at your awakening, but activating it, the phone will not emit any acoustic signal.

9.Disable automatic brightness for more battery life
The brightness level of your iPhone screen can have a great impact on battery life.By default, iOS automatically adjusts the brightness of the display based on the amount of light detected by the environmental sensor. But if you want to have complete control, you can disable the automatic brightness, which means that anything you set, the level of brightness is what will remain until you ruin it again.
Open Settings - Accessibility - Display and text size, and at the bottom of the page you will find a switch to deactivate automatic brightness.
Now, every time you want to adjust the screen, you can do it by opening the control center with an upward sliding from the bottom of the screen on a device with a home button or a scrolling down from the upper right corner on thelatest iPhones.
10.Activate the dark mode, you will not regret it
If you don't want to repeatedly adjust the brightness of the screen, you can use the dark appearance, which has shown to save on battery life. The dark mode converts all the white backgrounds in the apps, most of the time, in a black background. In turn, the phone will be able to save the battery charge thanks to the darker colors.
Turn it on going to Settings - display and brightness and selecting the dark appearance option at the top of the screen.
Apple's apps will automatically pass to a combination of dark colors. Most of the third -party apps also adopted this function.
11.Evaluate the privacy settings
The first time you configure a phone and all your apps, you are bombarded with requests for authorizations to access personal information ranging from tracking your position to information on Apple's health or photographic roll.It is all too easy to get used to approving everything just to be able to use the app, but take a few minutes and pass through the privacy settings and personalized what each app can and cannot see.
12.Control Center puts everything within reach
The control center is a convenient place to quickly change the songs, activate the airplane mode, connect to the Wi-Fi or start a timer, but there is much more. You can quickly turn on the torch, check a timer or start the screen recording with a quick scrolling.
Customized the apps and features available in the Control Center AssistantiPostations - Control Center - Customize checks.Remove an option with a touch on the red button or add an option by selecting the green Add button.Drag the functions upwards or down using the three lines icon on the right side of the screen.
As a reminder, if you have an iPhone with a home button, like the new iPhone if, you can slide upwards from the bottom of the screen to open the control center. If you have an iPhone with Face ID, such as an iPhone X, XS or 11, you will have to scroll down from the upper right corner of the screen where the battery icon is located.
