A doctor working in the San Diego (California) area has discovered the possibility of using the macro mode of the new iPhone 13, a useful feature in monitoring and treating certain eye conditions.
This was reported in a post on LinkedIn by Dr. Tommy Korn, ophthalmologist and specialist in digital health innovation at the Sharp Healthcare group in San Diego, reporting that he is using the iPhone 13 Pro Max to take macro images of the eyes of patients.
Korn reports he was "impressed" by the camera's performance, highlighting that the iPhone 13 Pro Max can help innovate aspects related to eye health and telemedicine, still reporting that he can't wait to understand where the technology can go.
Dr. Korn shared some images taken with the iPhone 13 Pro Max, used in the course of treating a patient who is recovering from an abrasion problem in a cornea transplant. The iPhone has been exploited to monitor the patient's post-operative recovery.
Leaving a comment on Dr. Korn, a different doctor – Dr. Jeffrey Lewis – highlighted that the iPhone 13 Pro Max camera can be another way to impress, manage and cultivate long-term relationships with patients, and “there is also a Phone app,” he added jokingly.
The macro mode of the new iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max allows you to take images in which objects appear larger than their actual size, enlarging subjects with a minimum focal distance of 2 cm. Here is our first review of the iPhone 13 Pro, with details on the macro mode.
