WhatsApp could soon welcome reactions to messages or a collection of emojis representing moods for immediate responses to single sentences within the chat, something that is already partially present on Instagram and Facebook Messenger and which it has already been adopted more widely by rivals such as on Signal for some time. The preview appeared once again on the beta version of the software being tested.
Wabetainfo staff noticed the presence of this unprecedented function by scanning the various details of the WhatsApp Beta version for Android 2.21.24.8, confirming, in fact, what had already emerged during the summer and more precisely last August, with the request to update the beta version appeared to some users with the motivation of "viewing the reaction you just received" to a message. The new clue instead comes from the WhatsApp settings page, under the heading Notifications with the switch (toggle) relating to whether or not you want to receive notifications on reactions to sent messages.
In short, there is not yet an image of the actual reactions, but it is likely to imagine that there is the thumbs up to express consent, the heart to express approval, the laughing face for hilarity, that with the mouth O for disbelief and almost certainly also the sad one. For the moment, the reactions to the messages therefore remain within the realm of possibility given that it is never 100% certain that what is tested will then be approved on the public version for Android and iPhone.
The other interesting novelty that seems to be arriving soon on WhatsApp concerns the possibility of hiding the last online access only from certain contacts, to give more control over privacy and make stalking more difficult.
