The news is coming soon. And it will make life easier for quite a few users. In fact, an update of the most used chat in the world should make its debut soon, which will allow you to do what is not possible today: migrate your conversation history to another platform. That is actually on another device: today if you switch from an iPhone to an Android smartphone (or vice versa) you can't do it. Soon yes and in a simpler way.
It doesn't end there. Also in an update coming soon to the chat controlled by Facebook, you can export the history of conversations, including multimedia files exchanged with contacts, to a different phone number. Which will automatically be associated with your account. There is still no trace, however, of the possibility of using the account with multiple numbers.
In short, the problem of those who had to restore the history after buying a new phone with a different operating system or changing numbers will be solved. Some time ago, the staff of WABetaInfo gave these previews, an always very reliable group that scours the beta versions under development and improvement to understand in which direction the platform is going and spreads what it has stolen on social networks. However, the feature cannot be used at all times: you will need to connect a new Android smartphone to your account, which will act as a pivot to and from iOS. In short, some small difficulties could remain.
Meanwhile WABetaInfo has recently published a short video on its Twitter profile which shows how the migration between different platforms works. Apparently you will need a cable and the intermediation of a PC. The option will soon be available for beta testers of the application, the official launch could come in the autumn.
