Backing up your smartphone and transferring data to a new Android phone or iPhone is not always an easy and painless operation. On the contrary, sometimes we can run into difficulties that make us even hate the new smartphone purchased. Don't panic though, there are proven methods to save all your data and move it to a new device without wasting too much time and without relying on special technical knowledge.
How to backup your smartphone?
The first good idea is to always make a backup of your old smartphone to be sure that, whatever happens, our data will not be permanently lost. Whether you have a smartphone with an Android operating system, or an iPhone, the procedure is simple in both cases.
IPhone Backup: How To Do It?
On iOS, you have two very quick methods available.
The first requires the connection of the iPhone to your PC, after which you will have to start iTunes and press the appropriate button, choosing your PC as the data saving destination.
The second method instead uses iCloud, and in that case it is started even without connecting the smartphone to the PC. It is essential to have enough space available to save the file, otherwise iPhone will warn you and stop the operation.
Backup to iCloud / PC allows you to generate a file that will be able to clone all the contents and settings of your current iPhone to a new model, without any other additional action.
The backup can also be performed on other platforms such as Google Drive, but the contents of the device will be divided (for example between Google Photo, Google Calendar and Google Contacts) and subsequently must be imported separately. Furthermore, that backup will not provide you with the other files (such as applications) present on the iPhone.
Android backup: how to do it?
It's just as easy to back up from your Android smartphone. In fact, in the settings of your phone there is the appropriate item with a link to Google Drive. Those who do not have a recent backup made automatically, can start it instantly, preferably under a wifi network. The location of the backup menu varies depending on the manufacturer and the UI version.
If you prefer to do it on a PC, know that practically every manufacturer (Samsung, LG, Xiaomi, etc.) has dedicated backup software ready to help you. Here are a few:

Transfer Android data
Now comes the longest and most tedious part, that of data transfer. The luckiest are undoubtedly those who have chosen the same manufacturer for the second time. In that case, the passage of data takes place more immediately, without banging your head too hard.
Transfer Android data with Samsung smartphone
The Korean company created the application called Samsung Switch. It can work both via wifi and wired (faster). The latter takes place via a small accessory, often included in the packages of the top of the range, an OTG adapter.
If you do not have this very useful tool, you can start the application by specifying the wireless mode. The application must be installed on both the old and the new device, with the former acting as the source. Mind you, the more data to clone, the longer the time needed for the operation.
Transfer data: Xiaomi
Xiaomi has also created a special application for this operation, and it is called Xiaomi Mi Mover. It is a feature integrated in MIUI that offers a service for transferring all data from one phone to another. Just a few simple steps, let's see them:
1. Go to Settings / Additional settings / Transfer; 2. Select according to your needs if you are the recipient or want to be the sender: a) If you are the recipient, a QR code will be generated to be scanned by the sender; b) If you are the sender, you will be asked to scan the QR of the recipient and finally to select all the data you want to send; 3. Please wait.Another app similar to Mi Mover, with practically the same functioning, is Mi Drop.
Transfer Android data with Huawei / Honor
Could Huawei be outdone? Of course not, that's why he created Phone Clone. The application creates a local Hotspot to which the two devices connect and then it's up to you to start the transfer from the source device to the receiving one.
Transfer data: Oneplus
Who has made speed one of its strengths, could not design its own version of this kind of applications, right? And in fact Oneplus tries to make everything as fluid as possible thanks to Oneplus Switch.
Transfer data: Sony
Even with Xperia Transfer Mobile you will be able to initiate a data transfer in no time. Note the possibility of doing this via an SD memory card (obviously in that case first check that both phones are equipped with the appropriate slot, so no iPhone!).
Transfer Android data: LG smartphones
Even LG, with Mobile Switch, allows data transfer with SD, but obviously also wireless or with a special cable. However, the cable must, as for Samsung, be equipped with an OTG connector.
Switch from iOS to Android
In this case, the transfer of data will take place exclusively for audio-photo-video files, contacts and calendar. Forget about applications, those are a world apart that will remain in the Apple ecosystem without leaving it. You will have to reinstall their Play Store version manually, by re-logging in on each of them.
To give you a hand in this case comes the Google Suite. Having previously backed up Google Drive, Google Photo, Google Calendar and Google Contacts finally comes in handy. Through the same applications on your new Android smartphone, you will be able to call up the latest backup via wifi connection and start a long upload of all the files and info previously saved.
It is a procedure that will involve some small data loss in total, but by now you have to get used to it, you are about to abandon iOS!
Switch from Android to iOS
Here the going gets really tough, but we don't give up easily.
There is an app called Switch to iOS or Move to iOS. This is to transfer the entire Google account (including bookmarks, messages, contacts, photos and videos) from Android to iOS, without necessarily having to go through the PC and, above all, without having to physically connect the two devices.
It works wirelessly, thanks to a Wi-Fi network specially created during the configuration phase. The procedure is automatic, simple to perform and takes very little time to start. However, the physical transfer of data can take several hours.
Important thing to know, before using this procedure, is that the iPhone that will receive the data must be as new, not configured (at all). Start by selecting your language, country, wifi network and unlock method. Once you have reached the App and data screen, choose the Migrate data from Android option, confirming that you want to proceed by clicking on the Continue button: remember to write down the numerical code that appears in the center of the screen. At this point, go back to the Android device and perform the steps on the app until the data transfer starts. When finished, you can complete the configuration of the iPhone and you will be ready to use it 100%.
