In addition to the new smartphones of the P50 family and a large group of gadgets and smart products, Huawei has announced a rather unique program: a hardware update of old smartphones with the main objective of expanding the storage memory and simultaneously updating the operating system to HarmonyOS 2.0. Over 30 phones are involved, mostly high-end and top; the oldest ones even have 5 years behind them.

The upgrade operations are performed by Huawei, and the customer can choose between memory sizes of 128, 256 and 512 GB. The cost starts at 369 renminbi, equal to about €48. For the moment the program has only been made official in China, we don't know if it will also arrive in other markets. The program is divided into two tranches: some models, mainly the P and the Mate, are compatible immediately, while others, mainly the Nova, will be compatible between August and December 2021. At the same time, Huawei announced that users will also be able to replace the batteries, although more precise information on the prices of this operation has not been provided.
