In the new function there are three playback speeds:
The fact that there are three playback speeds is linked to the variable "how fast our interlocutor speaks": if the person who sends us the audio speaks very fast on his own, doubling the speed (2X) would make the message incomprehensible received. That's why the 1.5X version is also there.
The original speed is instead the one currently present on the app.

How to speed up audio
Here are the simple steps to do to speed up audio playback on WhatsApp:
- Tap play to play the audio message;
- Instead of the icon with the photo of the contact who sent you the audio, you will see 1x, 2x and 1.5x corresponds to the playback speed of the message. You can change the speed by tapping on the number.
