A smartwatch is an electronic device that you wear on your wrist, usually instead of a regular watch. The usefulness of a smartwatch is manifold; in addition to measuring time, it works like a real computer and can perform calculations and applications, just like a smartphone or tablet. For this reason, you can pair any smartwatch with the various "mobile" devices on the market using the proven Bluetooth technology. Let's see how to connect the smartwatch to the phone easily and what are the procedures you need to adopt based on the operating system used by your smartphone or your iPhone, if you are a lover of Apple technology. You must bear in mind that the smartwatches themselves have their own operating system that you certainly cannot overlook when you need to pair it with the phone in your possession. The main operating systems with which smartphones on the market are equipped are; Android Wear, WatchOS and TizenOS; the latter is used by Samsung in its smartwatches, but is still compatible with Android operating systems starting from 4.4, while it works with iPhones limited to some models.

Connecting the smartwatch to the phone: using Android Wear
If you have purchased a smartwatch with the Android Wear operating system, you can pair it with the mobile phone in just a few steps, remembering to activate the connection bluetooth on both devices.
First, turn on your smartwatch, accept the license terms and select your preferred language. Do the following depending on the phone you have.
Configuring Android Wear with an Android smartphone
Download the appropriate application on your mobile device, called Android Wear, which you can find in a few steps on the PlayStore. From now on, you simply have to open the app and search for your model in the list of configurable smartwatches. Select the correct item, wait for the code to arrive on both devices and then confirm their pairing when prompted. After doing this, you need to transfer your personal account to the smartwatch; your smartphone itself will ask you for confirmation immediately after connecting the two devices. You will only have to respect the guided procedure and comply with the requests of the application. Proceed by following these steps: select the account to be transferred by first clicking on "Next" and then on "Copy"; enter the password associated with your account and complete the procedure by enabling all the required permissions (just click "Next" when prompted). Pairing of devices is now completed;
Configuring Android Wear with iPhone
Download and open the Android Wear application from the App Store on all Apple devices, performing the usual operations required by the iPhone; therefore click on Get and then on Install. At this point you have to start the guided configuration as requested by the App when it is opened; the iPhone will continue asking you to activate bluetooth and pair it with your smartwatch. With the same operations, you can also transfer your personal account from the iPhone to the smartwatch, exactly as it happens with Android smartphones.
Proceed as follows: associate your Google account from the screen; you will receive a password that you will need to use in the appropriate field. If you have not made any mistakes you can proceed with the synchronization of your account. From now on, you can use your smartwatch, making sure you've allowed your iPhone to send location data; if you haven't already done so, you need to go into the settings and activate data transmission.
As you can see, these are very quick operations, which require compliance with a clear and simple guided procedure; in a few moments you will be able to use your new smartwatch completely and enjoy greater freedom for your hands.
Connecting the smartwatch to the phone: using WatchOS
This paragraph is dedicated to those in possession of an Apple Watch, also known as WatchOS, i.e. the digital watch produced by the Californian company . If you have purchased this model, you are probably in possession of an iPhone with which the configuration is practically immediate. In any case, you should know that pairing is only possible in the following configurations: Apple Watch series 3 that work with GPS and cellular networks are compatible with iPhone 6 and later models, while those that only use the GPS network can be paired even to iPhone 5s; it is essential that the operating system installed is as recent as possible.
The Apple Watch series 4 can be paired with the iPhone just like the Apple Watch series 3 and also allow pairing with iPhone SE, as long as the latter works with an operating system equal to or higher than iOS 12. Proceed now respecting the following steps:
From now on, your electronic devices are paired and fully functional. The iPhone allows you to connect more than one Apple Watch and select the one you want to wear as you like; you will simply have to choose it in the appropriate screen. Now let's see together how you should behave if you have an Apple Watch and want to connect with your smartphone with the Android operating system. In this regard, from an electronic point of view you cannot succeed in this operation at all, as the Apple Watch cannot be combined with any smartphone model for any reason. This limit of the American device forces you to choose alternatives, some decidedly obvious, others consisting of interesting "tricks":
In the last two cases, the process plans to take advantage of Apple technology to synchronize the two devices; the usefulness of these operations, which may appear to be an end in itself, consists in pairing WatchOS with your sim card inserted in the iPhone you temporarily have. In this way, you can later transfer the latter to your Android device, "tricking" the computer and actually being able to use the Apple Watch with your Android smartwatch. In any case, with this system you will have to give up some features and settle for a slower responsiveness of your device to messages and various alerts.
Connecting the smartwatch to the phone: the use of TizenOS
Now let's see how to pair Samsung watches with the mobile device in your possession; Samsung adopts a different operating system, called TizenOS, a software that has many similarities with Android Wear and which was created to be combined perfectly with Samsung mobile devices, precisely with all phones that use the Gear S2, Gear S3 operating system and Gear FIT2.
The configuration is obtained very easily and is practically identical to that adopted in the most commonly used operating systems. The substantial differences between the two programs are few and allow Samsung smartwatches to be able to work with many devices from another brand. TizenOS is compatible with iPhones using iOS 9 or higher operating systems, just like Android Wear; coupling with smartphones can instead take place if the mobile device uses an Android 4.4 or higher operating system, although the phone has a RAM memory of at least 1.5 Gigabytes, while Android Wear also allows correct operation with Android 4.3.
Connecting the smartwatch to the phone: the other operating systems
In addition to the more known and widespread operating systems previously mentioned, there are some alternatives; among these we list the following programs:
