The Exynos 2200, the new SoC for Samsung's top-of-the-range phones, will see the light on January 11th . The company revealed this with a preliminary video that introduces it briefly, confirming the presence of a GPU with AMD's RDNA 2 architecture.
The video says very little, but it is evident that it focuses the message on the gaming experience promised by the Exynos 2200. The collaboration with AMD for the RDNA 2 GPU that will support it was already known and at the moment it is the most interesting novelty of the SoC ready to come into the world.
The fruit of the 2019 agreement
RDNA 2 is the same architecture used for AMD's separate RX 6000 series graphics cards, but also the one that brings graphics to life on the PS5 and Xbox X | S series consoles. Naturally, the solution for the SoC will be based on the complementary powers and architectures of a mobile platform.
AMD and Samsung signed the collaboration agreement in the distant summer of 2019 with the specific task of giving the Samsung processors specially engineered GPUs by AMD for the mobile sector.

Exynos 2200 only in Korea?
The Exynos 2200 will be the heart and brain of Samsung's top-of-the-line phones in 2022, so especially the Galaxy S22 and S22 Ultra. However, according to rumors, it is possible that the Exynos 2200 ends up only on the Korean versions of the top of the range , while the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 should be used for international distribution.
It remains to be clarified even if the name of the SoC will actually be “Exynos 2200”, given that Samsung has not yet given an official one even in the sidelines of the video teaser.
