Chen Jin, general manager of Lenovo's mobile phone department in China, revealed on Weibo that the company will release its flagship mobile phone before 2022.
Lenovo will beat all manufacturers in time
Earlier, we also saw a new phone from the brand powered by Qualcomm's flagship SM8450 processor. Also, at that time, we learned that this device would hit the market sometime next winter. Since the SM8450 corresponds to the Snapdragon 895, there is every reason to think that Lenovo will be the first OEM to include such a SoC in a commercial device.
At the moment, there are few details about the Qualcomm SM8450 processor. So talking about it makes no sense right now. Let's say we don't even know if the new processor will be called Snapdragon 895 or Snapdragon 898.
According to the previously leaked information, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 895 CPU is based on the new Cortex-V9 Kryo 780 GPU. In addition, it will integrate the new Adreno 730 GPU. Compared to the Snapdragon 888 parameters, the SM8450 theoretically has a great improvement of performance. Therefore, it will replace the current model to become the next most powerful mobile chip in the Android device landscape. Qualcomm is expected to launch it in December 2021.
The market changes very quickly. And even though Xiaomi has launched the first Qualcomm Snapdragon flagship phones in recent years, all that could change again this year.
Also, Chinese OEM Lenovo is deepening its cooperation with Qualcomm. So it is logical to assume that the initial batches of the Snapdragon 895 will come from this manufacturer and not from Xiaomi or Samsung.
