At the beginning of next year, Samsung will announce the new generation of flagship smartphones - we are talking, of course, about the devices of the Galaxy S22 series. The authoritative insider Jon Prosser, whose information has been confirmed several times previously, reiterated what the launch timing will be for these devices close to debut.

Samsung Galaxy S22: will arrive on February 8

The series will include three devices; there will be a base version of the Galaxy S22 with a 6.06-inch display and a 3,700mAh battery. There will be a triple camera with a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 12-megapixel unit with wide-angle optics and a 10-megapixel telephoto module.

The in-between phone will be the Galaxy S22 +, which will have a 6.55-inch screen and a 4500mAh battery. The camera configuration will be the same as the base model.

The top of the range will be the S22 Ultra with a 6.81-inch screen and a 5000mAh battery. The quad-camera will receive a configuration divided as follows: 108 + 12 + 10 + 10 Megapixel.

All new devices will carry on board the Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 or Samsung Exynos 2200 processor. The refresh rate of the panel, however, will be 120 Hz.

The official unveiling of the terminals is expected to take place in January or early February. Prosser reports that the smartphones will be available for pre-order on February 8, with shipments starting on February 18. However, we will certainly have new confirmations on this in the coming new weeks.

The International Data Corporation (IDC) released statistics on the global smartphone market in the third quarter of this year. Phone shipments are noticeable.

Between July and September, 331.2 million terminals were sold worldwide. Just for comparison: a year earlier shipments amounted to 354.9 million units.

The decline in annual terms was therefore approximately 6.7%. This situation is mainly due to the shortage of electronic components. Difficulties with component manufacturing have affected a wide variety of industries, from computers to household appliances, cars and motorcycles, servers, and so on.

The biggest player in the mobile phone market in the third quarter was South Korean giant Samsung with a 20.8% share. In second place is Apple, with about 15.2% of the global market. The Chinese Xiaomi closes the top three with a share of 13.4%.

Then there are Vivo and OPPO with about the same results: 10.1% and 10.0% respectively. All other smartphone vendors collectively hold 30.5% of the global market.
