Samsung took little to keep the promise: from today it is possible to reprogram the Bixby key also on the other former top of the range 2018 and 2019, as well as on the new Galaxy S10e, S10 and S10 Plus.
To do this, simply open the Galaxy Store, access the Profile item under the three dots at the top right, tap Update and update all applications related to Bixby. Among these is Bixby Wakeup, which is the system app that controls the awakening of the voice assistant and the interaction with the physical key.
Once the update has been carried out, all that remains is to activate Bixby, enter the Settings menu and then choose the Bixby button item, where there are the new options to configure the behavior of the button. You will have two choices: start any (almost) application installed on your smartphone or start one of the quick commands.
We would like to clarify one thing: this will not allow you to disable Bixby, but only to choose whether to recall it with a single click or with two quick clicks. The discarded gesture can be used to start an application or a quick command, however, you cannot decide to completely disable Bixby. In any case, relegating its activation to a double click will undoubtedly reduce involuntary starts, leaving the single click free to open the favorite app.
The new feature should already be available on all top-of-the-range Bixby-equipped flagships - such as Galaxy S8, S8 Plus, Note 8, S9, S9 Plus and Note 9 - but it is likely to arrive soon on other devices equipped with this too. physical key.
